Two months ago, Salt City Slam won $1,000 at a DISHES dinner. Their idea was to implement a series of poetry slam events on the Northside. They wanted to do the slams right, paying poets honorariums and renting space from local arts organizations. Through these events they wanted to establish Syracuse as a nationally recognized poetry slam venue and eventually send local poets to compete in national and international slam competitions.
So, tonight’s the night! Starting at 7 p.m. Salt City Slam will host their first poetry event at the ArtRage Gallery. The event is free, open to the public and sure to knock your socks off. Did you see the video of the winners’ encore performance at DISHES? Come watch poetry happen!
